    Pro Display Remembers with Ridings Centre Annual Poppy Drop

    On the second Sunday of November, every year, the UK comes together to honour the services and sacrifices made by our armed services and veterans on Remembrance Sunday. Across the country over the surrounding days, Remembrance events take place in all shapes and sizes, from 10,000 veterans marching in the National Service of Remembrance, to the wreath laying in the UK’s smallest of towns. Now, with 2019 being the 100th year since it’s first commemoration, it is more important than ever that we continue to remember why we celebrate this occasion.

    To do our bit, Pro Display has worked in partnership with local shopping centre The Ridings, Wakefield, providing them with a huge screen to use at events throughout the year. Our 3.2m x 1.8m Ultra Gain Projection Screen has been used as part of The Riding’s Poppy Drop Ceremony for the past three years. The huge screen can be seen across two floors of the mall and supported the Remembrance ceremony itself, drawing in visitors and inviting them to remember and pay their respects as part of the service.

    The Ridings held the service on the morning of the 9th of November in the company of veterans, standards, Wakefield Cathedral staff and councillors. The touching ceremony began with a parade down the mall, with the march ending in the atrium after moving readings from guest speakers. The atrium space was beautifully decorated with union jacks and armed forces uniforms from the past and present. Perhaps the most stunning feature, was the cascade of handmade poppies flowing beneath our front projection screen, all carefully handmade by members of the community. After the bugler sounded the last post marking the two minutes silence, poppy petals began to fall from the ceiling, marking a perfect end to a truly thoughtful service.

    Not only is our screen used annually for events like Remembrance Day, the Ultra Gain screen stays up 365 days a year as an advertising opportunity and part of The Ridings’ presentation space. For instance, Sandal BMW, Wakefield used the space to promote their brand-new Mini Cooper and offer free test drives to the visitors of the centre. Our eye-catching, high brightness front projection screen works perfectly to grab the attention of the 6.5m per year footfall in the Ridings Centre, informing passers-by of the many exciting events coming up in the centre and within the local community.

    The atrium of the shopping centre is subject to a lot of natural light flowing in from the roof, however our Ultra Gain Screen has a highly reflective surface; offering exceptional brightness, contrast and resolution in high ambient light situations like this.

    Front Projection Film Information Screens

    Ultra Gain supports 4K projection and is also available as a self-adhesive projection film in screen sizes up to 134”, by the metre off the roll or in 10m and 30m rolls. This film can be simply applied to any existing glass surface in minutes, using our application fluid and a squeegee.
