The site of Penderyn Distillery, Wales’ first whisky distillery in over 100 years, and pioneers in World Whisky, has been transformed after three years of work.
To further enhance their site Penderyn Distillery approached Pro Display because they wanted to display videos for their customers to see from inside the distillery at the beginning of each tour.
Pro Display manufactured and installed a 9m x 1.6m Transparent LED Display solution hung with cables from the ceiling joist. Transparent LED display solutions can be retrofitted behind any window or glass wall to create a full colour video screen without blocking the view in or out of the building.
Distillery customers can join distillery tours and Whisky masterclasses and now, instead of seeing a car-park, whisky lovers can see a beautiful sunset over a rippling lake or anything the owners can imagine!
The modular LED screen consists of one row of nine 1m x 1m modules and another row of nine 1m x 0.625m modules seamlessly joined together. The horizontal pixel pitch is 3.9mm and the vertical pixel pitch is 7.8 mm. The viewing angle is 140°.
The beautiful sunset video is played by a PC (located in a cupboard) wirelessly connected to the LED controller (located in the ceiling above the screen) which is connected to the screen modules. The maximum power consumption of the screen is 9.8kW (~60A at 230 VAC) and the average power consumption is 2.95kW. There are 5 power cables. Each power cable has a 16A capacity and supplies up to 2 columns of LED modules.
